The Round Room was built in 1821 for the much-anticipated visit of King George IV. On the 21st of January 1919, the First Dail Eireann was held in the Round Room. In 1921, 100 years after its construction to recieve the English monarch, the Anglo-Irish Treaty was ratified in this room. It was the signing of this treaty that created the Irish Free State, and led to the Irish Civil War. New management blew fresh life into the building in 2005, and, fully refurbuished, the room has retaken its rightful place as a venue for the people of Dublin as the Round Room Buisness and Events Centre
